Well, we had two film crews arrive at our home on Sunday, January 3rd. It was very exciting as they filmed our interviews and re-enactments. They are filming for a show called Monsters Inside Me. The show focuses on people who have had parasites, who have had a difficult time being diagnosed and almost die. Michael and I went to the Dominican Republic 2 years ago to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. I taught fitness at a resort there and we had a fantastic time. However, Michael was bitten by a mosquito carrying malaria. We had no idea that malaria even existed at this exotic destination.
After being back in the states for 10 days, Michael came down with symptoms and several doctors told him he had a virus. Well, he didn't. Finally, an ER doctor confirmed that Michael had malaria. Then the hospital did not know how to treat him and he almost died. Thank God for Dr. Edmond, an infectious disease specialist at MCV. He treated Mike and when he came down with Post-Malaria Neurological Syndrome, three weeks later, once again Dr. Edmond knew what to do and treated him. We will forever be grateful to Dr. Edmond!
Animal Planet has informed us that we will air in the Spring/Summer time...I will keep everyone posted!
